I am a professional musician, and my main occupation is music, in all formats of teaching, song-writing, live performance including band work (currently playing with "Lapse of Reason", and recording, both studio, home and the exciting field of computer based music and digital recording and editing |
| My style of teaching is based around a set curriculum, where students work through a variety of exercises and pieces including popular songs. Performance based instrumental music is highly encourages. If the student does what is assigned, then improvement is guaranteed! Of course, students are paying to learn what they wish, and the lessons can naturally be based around where your particular interests may lie, whether it be a favourate song, style, or rock star! |

How do you get involved?
I teach from a studio at 4 Glenview Terrace, Hamilton, New Zealand. Private Lessons are ever popular, although it can sometimes be fun to learn with others, and for this reason, group concessions are available too. If you have a friend, or someone you know, who might like to learn with you, ask them and come along together - the cost is lowered as well! |
For Beginners to Advanced, I cover all the main styles:
Jazz, Blues, Rock, Metal, Grunge, Folk, Neo-Classical.
You can learn either Acoustic or Electric guitar from any level.
We work hard on specific techniques such as Strumming, Fingerpicking, plectrum use and speed-picking, and left-hand strength and stretch.
Extra focus is put on Music Theory, Music Reading and I can take you through the Royal School Grading System in both Theory and Performance.
For advanced guitarists we get into specialised areas such as Songwriting, Lead tricks, Scales, Arpeggios and much more...

Lessons are charged on a 1/2 basis.
* $20 per 1/2hr lesson for school children from School Yr 4 - Yr 8
* $25 per 1/2hr lesson for High School from School Yr 9 - Yr 13
* $25 per 1/2hr lesson for Adults and Tertiary Students
